October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and on Thursday, October 5th from 7:30-11am, PMH Medical Center in Prosser will hold its annual Think Pink Health Fair. This is a FREE event, open to both women and men. Attendees are encouraged to wear their pink and bring a friend. The health fair provides breast health information and several screenings and tests will be offered. Screenings include: blood sugar and blood pressure checks, bone density screenings, pulmonary function tests and body mass index (BMI). A lipid panel (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides), valued at $126.00 is also offered but requires a 10-12 hour fast prior to blood being drawn. Healthy snacks and beverages will also be served.
Did you know that after the age of 40, women no longer need a physician referral for mammography? PMH Medical Center offers digital mammography screenings year-round.
PMH Medical Center is an ACR-accredited facility. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement.
